My husband is Cantonese and I am Korean. He speaks very little Cantonese and can't read Chinese either. We live in the States and speak English as our first language.
We have just had a son, who we have called Ashton. However, we've offered my husband's mum the chance to provide a Cantonese middle name. She wants something that sounds like Ashton, and has sent us loads of Chinese characters which of course mean nothing to us.
We've tried translating individual characters to get a sense of what they mean, but most seem like jibberish.
Any suggestions as to how to achieve the above?
