Need help figuring out these characters and the phrase meaning

Apologize for the grainy picture-can someone figure out what characters these are and help explain the meaning behind it. I think the artistic style of the lettering is throwing it off when I try writing it onto text converting websites (also I don't know how the stroke order). I want to write a smaller version of it in my planner as a reminder of the message :) [Backstory: we just spent several weeks in China getting to meet my SO's family. Relative had this print & I forgot exactly what he said it means but it was along the lines of "not chasing after things, but if it's meant for you it will come to you".
