This is something that has been on my mind for a while. 同屋 must be the only Chinese word that all foreigners know, but no Chinese. It's in all the Chinese learning books, but I've never met any Chinese person that actually knows the word. Northerners, Southerners, old, young, nobody uses it.
So how did it end up in all those books instead of the word that is actually used, 室友?
