Tips for starting HSK 5?

Hello all,

I'm about to hit that crossroad from HSK 4 to 5 and I've heard the gap can be quite intimidating for some. I'd like to share my current methods of learning Chinese and hear all of your insights and recommendations. My weekly Chinese studies typically go as follows:

  • 2 hour Skype tutoring session with Chinese teacher, mainly focusing on HSK 4 material
  • Reading 1 - 2 Chairman's Bao articles per day
  • Completing all HSK workbook material for material covered in tutoring session, including listening practice
  • Utilizing flashcards on the Pleco app to learn new vocab
  • Writing at least 15 new characters per week in notebook
  • Have a "Chinese only" day where the girlfriend and I only speak in Chinese for the day.

Please provide any feedback or recommendations! I would love to hear how you all achieved or plan to achieve fluency in this beautiful language.

Thanks
