Question about 漢子 strokes

I've noticed the dots in the rain character 雨 are X-shaped in the subreddit's banner and other places but parallel in other places. Even the Microsoft keyboard shows X-dots in character preview, but when you choose that character it types it with parallel dots.

Some other inconsistencies I've seen are with the 天 top stroke. In some writings it is longer than the middle stroke, in other places it's shorter.

Is this about the computer font or a historic change?
