Hi all :)
I've been studying Chinese almost daily for 4 months now on my phone. I use Lingodeer for material, then I use WrittenChinese and Pleco for definitions and stroke orders. I primarily use WrittenChinese as the app looks a lot nicer than Pleco, I'll only go to Pleco if the definition of a compound word or stroke order doesn't show up.
I've finished Chinese 1 and now working towards Chinese 2. Their sister app 'ChineseSkill' has an 'Immersion' tab with a few hundred topics. I've gone through a few of the beginner pieces and they're really helpful with learning more words. I also a have a complete HSK1-6 on Anki which I've used very briefly. I've heard of a few different people saying they studied HSK but felt their time was wasted because they couldn't use the words in sentences correctly.
I also have daily exposure to native speakers, playing online games together however it's a one way street, they only speak Chinese so I'm using this exposure as a passive learning experience. I've also noticed that my English -> Chinese is not good, but if I see a character I can translate it back to English. Is this a common thing?
What should I look towards after finishing Chinese 2 on Lingodeer? Is there anything that I should be doing while learning currently? For example: I haven't paid any attention to traditional Chinese. The app focuses on Simplified, but when I check stroke orders on WrittenChinese/Pleco they have traditional on there as well.
