Learn Cantonese? Wife's family is Cantonese

Wife is an ABC, she claims she can understand about 90% of basic Cantonese conversation and speaks it like a child. She can't read or write Chinese. Her mom is from China as are some of her relatives, usually when they are together they converse in Cantonese although they are fairly fluent in English as well (meaning I generally have no issues communicating with them). My wife and her siblings speak in English to their family.

I'm considering learning it as it's really the only foreign language I have a decent shot at using regularly because of my wife and her family. And that seems to be the key in learning any foreign language, regular usage.

OTOH, it seems to be a ridiculously difficult language that requires a massive time commitment, and (putting this delicately) when my MIL passes away I will lose my primary source of regular Cantonese conversation. And I don't have problems communicating with them in English.

FWIW, I'm Korean American and fluent in Korean, not sure to what extent (if any) that would help me pick up Cantonese.
