As a soon to be graduate of a modern languages course and an independent Chinese learner (I hate the phrase "self-taught"), I am curious to know what level is expected of you as you progress through each year of your degree. Furthermore, what level is expected upon graduation? Do you use HSK levels to determine this or the CEFR system? What kind of assessments and exams do you take at uni/college (to be transatlantically friendly...) and are periods abroad obligatory/incorporated into your degree?
