What are the best books for self-study I can buy on Taobao?

I currently live in China and I'm getting tired of having only a basic understanding and getting nervous with even just asking for how much something costs. My Chinese co-workers and friends have taught me some things, but we don't really practice more complex ideas beyond basic sentences like: "I (don't) like..." "I (don't) want..." etc. I also want to practice reading and writing characters a little more.

I've tried using apps, but for learning, I've always preferred physical writing and practice. I also have my Chinese friends to help me when I have a concern or if I need to check pronunciation. I'd prefer if it was like a workbook and I can just write and take notes on it directly.
