I find it extremely difficult to figure out how to reword things into English. I understand that you have to render your translation of a passage so that it is acceptable in terms of English syntax, but the problem I run into is that I'm not confident about whether what I'm currently doing is correct.
I can't decide between whether I should try to stay as true to the vocabulary and meaning of the original Chinese passage as possible, or whether I should reword it a bit more in order to make it sound 'better' in the English translation (to my own ears). For example, I'm currently translating a text from my textbook and the passage I'm working on is:
空污染： 从动物粪便中排出来的气体，不但污染了空气，而且还使全球气候变暖。
My idea of staying as close to the original vocabulary as possible is:
The gases released from animal excrement not only contaminates the atmosphere, but also causes the global climate to become warmer.
My own intuition is telling me that I should reword it this way:
The gases emitted from animal excrement not only contaminates the atmosphere, but also contributes to (or causes) global warming.
I genuinely have no idea what is the proper/appropriate way to go about translating into English. Would also appreciate if anyone has any resources or articles about this topic!
