Hello,
I know this question probably gets asked a lot, but i think I have a slightly different variation.
I have two goals in learning Chinese, both important to me:
First, I want to learn a new language and visit mainland china and hold conversations with people.
Second, I am very interested in Chinese art, history, and literature and would like to read some works in the original language.
I realize that I will probably reach the first goal much, much before the second. That being said, if my goal is to read classics of chinese literature (like lu xun, the 4 novels), it seems like it would be worth it to learn traditional, but i plan on going to mainland china rather than taiwan/hong kong. Any advice?
