Difference between ju vs zhi, qu vs chi, and xu vs shi?

Mandarin Chinese has been my second language along with English since I was very young, but I still can’t differentiate and nail the pronunciation the between these word pairs. For example, besides the tones, what is the difference between 去 and 吃 in the sentence: 我去吃饭。？
