Learning to read and write

I am a first generation Asian American whose parents immigrated to America before I was born. I can speak and understand mandarin perfectly but I cannot read or write. What is the best way for me to learn quickly? I already know a lot of basic characters but want to learn how to read and write on an advanced level within two summers.
