By definition, I am a native speaker of Mandarin (of the variant spoken in Taiwan with the occasional “insert mainland vocab here”, the most common one I use being 韓國 rather than 南韓 [which is apparently used on Taiwan & HK according to Wiktionary]). However, there are many terms that a tend to substitute with English words (mainly because I either don’t know what the equivalent of that term in Mandarin or its a habit) of which I find myself unable to express stuff in a manner in which my parents understand (since neither of them can speak English despite living in a country that predominantly speaks English for like twenty years, or at least clearly and in an easily understandable manner even though one of them can be considered a polyglot).
How should I learn more words?
By the way, I prefer 注意符號 (more so when it’s placed vertically on the right side of a character) over 漢語拼音 any day even though I can read both.
