My scores: Listening 93, Reading 67, Writing 0. My problem? I don't read Simplified Chinese.
I'm a long time Chinese speaker and reader, wanting to pick up some credentials in case something in my field comes up that could see me travelling to Sinosphere more frequently. I'm self taught, and speak Chinese most days at work. I'm reading Traditional characters at the DeFrancis Advanced Chinese reader level. And I've been snobbish for years focusing on traditional characters because I love travelling in Taiwan and want to be able to read classical Chinese lit some day.
So, is there a good resource that anyone can recommend for someone who already speaks/hears and can read Traditional reasonably? Something along the line of a Reader? I may be irrationally worried that if I start learning Simplified I'll forget my Traditional. It's also annoying to feel like you're "starting all over again" learning basic characters...
PS: The writing was 0 because you can't type characters that you don't know how to say: I can guess at meanings and characters in the reading comp based on my traditional character understanding, but for the written, you have to be able to type pinyin and rearrange the character blocks into a sentence. If you don't know a single character in the block, you can't type the pinyin and you get the sentence wrong...
