Where do i start learning Mandarin?

I am extremely interested in learning Mandarin and Taiwanese Mandarin. I am in senior year of High school and sometimes i tutor Chinese kids in English despite having little knowledge of the language.

I just don't know where to even start, what do i learn and where do i learn it?

What worked for you? any online programs or anything (preferably free but i don't mind if its not super expensive)
