Anyone ever get a job in their home country due to knowing mandarin?

Just curious. I've been learning mandarin for a while now, but I'm getting to the point where I really want to start having conversations with people in stead of just practicing at home and listening to things on the internet. I went onto those job websites and searched for mandarin speaking jobs in my area and a bunch of results came up for all sorts of things, stores and takeaways/restaurants being among them. It's probably worth mentioning that I live in the UK, so if you're from the UK and are able to answer this then even better! I don't have any HSK certificates and I'm aware that most mandarin speaking jobs would require one, but what if I were just able to go in and prove it during the interview? All the job roles are for assisting people with looking for foods that they can't find, storage, and cashier. I'm pretty sure I have a decent enough grasp on mandarin for those roles, and I can only get better.
