Just started learning chinese a month ago, what can i do to make sure my handwriting is good?

My normal handwriting (english print and cursive) is borderline illegible. I'm not sure if it works this way, but since this language has an entirely different writing system, is there a way to try and improve my handwriting from the start? How should I practice writing?
