Since theres often questions about paper vs internet based hsk tests, here are my observations:
The font is not very clear, the texts are more difficult to read on the internet based test.
You cant skip ahead and read answers in advance during listening comprehension.
The text input during writing is not that easy to use. Below a big text box for your writing, the corresponding characters for the inputted pinyin became visible. At first I didnt scroll down far enough to even see this part of the screen so I had to ask the test administrator, but she didnt know how it worked either. Finally I figured it out by testing different things but I lost a couple of minutes here, which werent added at the end. The character library for this input method seems not as rich as the one built into windows. For example if I typed yiji 以及 did not show up, so I had to input that as two different characters.
All in all, if you are weak at writing by hand, it is probably better to aim for the internet based test, despite the problems.
Another general observation was that inside the test room all hsk levels took the test simultaneously. And when lower level testers were finished they would exit the room making quite alot of noise. If possible, it is probably better to take the test at a small test center, so you wont be too disturbed by other test takers.
