Character Learning Resources for Kids?

Have 2 kids learning Mandarin (1 in Kindergarten and 1 in 1st Grade).

I'm looking for more native resources for them to learn characters/words (reading and writing, if possible) that is age appropriate and will allow them to build a strong foundation of characters if they stick with it through highschool.

We don't live in a Mandarin speaking county, so I don't expect native level reading levels. However, I would like them to be at most only a year behind.

Preference for traditional characters, but Simplified is ok, too.

Please help.
