As per title. I always wanted to learn mandarin but I'm really bad with tonal languages and maybe a bit old to start now (40+++ years old). I do speak some latin languages (german, italian, french, english some spanish and portuguese). I thought next year maybe I could fly to china for two weeks and enroll in a semi-intensive course (or intensive) and see what I can learn in two weeks. It would be a cool way of spend my free time but also an eye opener (like: "forget chinese" or "continue back at home").
Is it worth to try? Will I come back home knowing some basic stuff and being able to understand my limits? I might not have enough space for another language in my head, but I would love to try it if it is worth the hassle.
