Question for fluent/native speakers: how good is the content on the BBC's Chinese language site? Is it written like native Chinese news content?

Link here: http://www.bbc.com/zhongwen/simp

I'm wondering if you could read a few stories here and let me know if the language used, word choice etc is a close match to what I would find in native mainland Chinese or Taiwanese media. Do the articles feel like they have been written by a native speaker, or do they feel like they have been awkwardly translated from English?

I'm interested in reading more news as learning material but I'm not interested in actual Chinese news like Xinhua etc because the website design sucks and it's censored/controlled by the Chinese government. Is the BBC a good learning resource, in your opinion?

Thanks in advance.
