Do you ever feel like hanzi hold you back?

I've been learning chinese a little while now and I think km slowly getting better and memorizing the hanzi, but I definitely struggle to write them from memory as of now.

With a language like Korean that has an alphabet you can start writing almost right away.

So I was wondering, does this ever hinder you? If you wanted to write a grocery list, or a quick note, or something like that but you wanted to write it in Chinese for practice, for me I wouldn't be able to do it (yet) but a Korean learner would have no problem.

Is this only a beginner problem or is it just part of the challenge of learning chinese?

Thanks!
