Picking up Chinese again? Best ways to practice reading and writing?

Hey everyone!

I moved to the US from China when I was 8. And now 10 years later I am 18 and use 100% English in my everyday life.

I find that I can’t hold conversations in Chinese well and I have troubles reading/writing Chinese except for the simpler characters (大 你 我... the basics) due to the lack of practice in my everyday life.

I’m going back to China for the first time in 10 years also! And I really want to be able to up my fluency in reading and writing in the two months I have until going back. Particular I want to learn more 成语 for speaking purposes too.

I tried using a couple of different apps but it’s hard because it’s either way too basic for me, or I find that I can’t read it at all...

Please give me suggestions!
