Ni Hao! But help pl0x

OK ok so I am determined as it gets, and I'm only a couple days in, and I haven't had time to spend with my litaoChinese courses yet, but I need some help in how I need to think.

Do all Chinese characters "make sense" in and of themselves? A lot (potentially all? Lmk) seem to have ancient counterparts that are explicitly pictographic, and so I can imagine developing that level of abstraction through out. But studying "100 Common radicals" on Anki, I can't help but notice characters that simply don't seem related, such as the one for bamboo, or meat.

What is the philosophy of reading these beautiful characters? Or is it all just impressions in the mind and one has to just do it?
