So, in terms of vocabulary, my Mandarin Chinese is far better than my Japanese, Korean, or Cantonese. I pretty much don't speak Cantonese at all. But, for some reason, I find it much more difficult to speak fluidly in Mandarin Chinese than al of these other languages.
Korean is maybe the easiest for me. I have such a clear picture in my head for Korean that it comes really naturally, even though I don't know many words. I have a Korean voice in my head. But when it comes to Chinese, the Chinese voice in my head is less clear. I would say the Chinese voice is basically my own American accent voice, which isn't that useful for trying to speak like a native speaker.
Any thoughts or similar experiences?
