I've heard how 四 is an unlucky number in China, but I unintentionally had a bit of an interesting moment in a conversation a few days ago.
I was at my SO's graduation with her family, and before she left to get in line we were looking for her name in the program booklet. I found her name on page 48. Rather than telling her family 四十八 I instead took the sloppy route of just saying 四八 (perhaps with a bit of rushed pronunciation too).
I didn't realize it at the time but my SO was quick to point out how similar that sounds to 死吧.
We had a good laugh about it.
