Unoriginal Name Thread (with a twist!)

So a lot of these threads usually involve someone asking if their name in Chinese is appropriate compared to their English name. However, I was named by my Chinese teacher and I've been confused the last few years as to WHY she named me this. (I would just ask my teacher, but we've fallen out of touch since I graduated.)

My Chinese name is 史戈. While the last name 史 sounds like part of my last name, my first name 戈 is nowhere close to my actual first name. I'm not unhappy with it, it's easy to say and write, but I was the only one in the class with a name that was extremely off. I've done my own research and I know 戈 is the Chinese word for daggeraxe, but I can't tell if that gives the name any connotations or if I'm just thinking too much.

Needless to say, I'm curious. Anyone have any thoughts?
