Useful Chengyu 成语

Here are a few chengyu that I find useful:

悬梁刺骨 Xuánliángcìgǔ - for describing how hard you study

覆水難收 Fùshuǐnánshōu - for saying "no second chances" in a polite and sophisticated manner

心勞日拙 Xīnláorìzhuō - for telling liars that they should confess instead

半途而废 Bàntúérfèi - for telling someone to do the job properly after a lackluster attempt

塞翁失马 Sàiwēngshīmǎ - for consoling yourself or others that an outcome may not be as bad as it seems
