Hi! I apologize if there's already several questions like this but the answers I found still left me feeling unsure so I figured that I could try asking here for some help.
I've been wondering if learning all the words for each of the HSK levels is useful for improving your vocabulary for practical use?
I'm Chinese and I speak Mandarin at home with family but my vocabulary is limited since I've never usually communicated with others outside of my family and basically grew up in Canada. My writing and reading are also pretty bad so I've been trying to improve my vocabulary recently. I listen to Chinese songs, watch shows/youtubers who speak Chinese, and have recently been using weibo, and although I can usually understand the basics of what's going on (in shows), there's vocabulary I sometimes don't know so the "true/full" meaning of something is lost to me.
I want to be able to read and write fluently, and communicate with others on more complex topics comfortably so I thought the HSK would be useful in improving my vocabulary but I did some googling and it seems like it might not be effective when it comes to communicating with others/you don't really use the vocabulary they have listed?
So I want to know if I should keep studying the words from each level (and maybe if anyone has any other tips for improving vocabulary)? Thank you very much in advance!! (sorry if this is too wordy, I'm not a very concise person D: )
