So, I started [slowly by surely] learning Chinese. I'm using YoYo Chinese primarily, which seems to be OK. Thing is, that due to my extremely tight schedule (full-time job and kids), I can only do about two YoYo lessons a week, which is not sufficient.
I thought that complimenting it with Duolingo would be a great idea. What I love about Duolingo is that I can easily find 30 minutes here and there during the day (say while I wait for the kid during his karate class). So the concept is great...but I'm not sure it works well with Chinese.
At the beginning, it was fine, actually. But pretty soon I realized that Duolingo expects me to learn Kanji fairly early...and I'm simply not there yet. In YoYo, I'm still using pinyin (which is challenging enough in itself). If I through in Kanji...I'm lost.
Any suggestions?
