Hello. As most second learners know, characters are kind of difficult to comprehend when one has been trained on the English alphabet for so long. I have always had an interest in geography, and feel that if I can map characters onto specific locations (countries, cities, mountains, etc.) then I could recall them more easily.
I've noticed that the phonetic components of most country names are words with meanings within themselves, and wonder how that changes a native Mandarin speakers perception of such a country, maybe even from children with their imaginations!
If this is too novel an idea so be it, but if it can be worked out, I would love to see what people come up with!
