hi all — i adore this show, meteor garden (流星花园), which is a 2018 remake of the original taiwanese show about a girl (董杉菜) who gets involved with a clique-y group of rich, attractive, very trope-y boys (nice piano genius boy, bad-edgy-boy, smart-ass boy, arty boy) at her local university, and their various dramas and mishaps. it's probably the biggest thing that's helped me improve my mandarin after i moved to china, believe it or not! after having watched the show with english subtitles, i proceeded to rewatch it with mandarin subtitles, which is where the transcribing begins. my roommates in beijing think i'm absolutely insane when they hear me muttering stupid rom-com lines, but i transcribe every episode so that i have the script in front of me typed out. then i literally pick apart the entire script, searching all the characters i don't know in pleco, and then quiz myself on them episode by episode, sometimes obsess over the grammar structures, and then i read the lines out myself after the actors (yes, i know i have no life). this show basically single-handedly taught me how to speak normally, and not like a robot out of some '90s textbook. however, there are like fifty episodes, and i was wondering if anyone else a) watched the show, and b) would like to transcribe a couple episodes and then get together and share them with each other so we could all benefit from this? laugh away folks, but i'm 110% serious, haha! also, the show is amazing anyways and you all should watch it regardless. (& it's on netflix!!)
