Why would ppl still learn mandarin when the state of China is like this?

Please no politics. Just looked at /China and the country looks like hell. I’m complete amateur to politics but the image of the country is just F-. Why people still want to learn the language? Maybe:

  1. Planning to go to Taiwan only?
  2. Planning to do business with them only?
  3. Just wanted to learn some different type of culture? (Why not learn Japanese/Korean/Viet/Thai instead?)
  4. Addicted to their mediocre tv series?
  5. The language is beautiful! (English is not beautiful enough?)

Please no politics. Thanks.
