Planning my language learning help

So I started on learning how to try and speak mandarin with an audiobook. I'm not finished with it yet, but I'd still like to plan ahead and decide what the next step should be.

So far, its covered some basic conversational mandarin and I was wondering what the next step would be from there. I have some basic ideas to improve by listening to chinese music, esports, and hopefully finding someone fluent in my area to practice with but all of this involves speaking. I'm wondering where and how I should fit reading and writing into my education and I thought I would ask for direction in this sub.

The audiobook I'm starting with is Learning Mandarin Chinese with Paul Noble. I like it a lot so far, but I was also wondering if anyone in this sub had any thoughts on whether I should keep using it or not.
