Many media would like to use one character to summarize the year. Someone made this as the 汉字 of 2018 and went viral. This character literally is 穷poor+丑ugly and the pronounce is qióng+chǒu=qióu. Though it is not a real character (you cannot find it in a dictionary), but many people think it's too accurate😛.
