I've noticed that many graded reader series do not have an ebook available for purchase. I was thinking of buying the real books for these and then converting them to an ebook through using one of those services that digitize books. The different companies vary in their prices, but I've seen some that seem pretty cheap.
I want to digitize the books so that I can run it through a program that finds characters/words which are not in my Anki, and learn them prior to reading the books to optimize the extensive reading process.
The only downside is that this digitization process results in the destruction of the book, because they have to cut each page out before feeding it into their machine. So I may have to buy two copies of each book if I want to have a real book on hand (e.g., for traveling).
Has anyone here used one of these services? How did it work out?
