Chinese date & time confusion

大家好！I recently put my phone into Chinese for practice, and found that beneath the date, the following characters were listed:

戊戌年冬月廿四

I think this has something to do with the year and month because I recognize “年” and “月”, but am unfamiliar with the rest of the quote. Can anyone explain what this phrase is saying? 谢谢您们！
