Here are some potential reasons to give up Chinese:
- You complain about characters, and are unwilling to give up pinyin as a reading crutch.
- You complain about tones, and are unwilling to learn to speak with tones.
- You expect to be fluent within a few years. (on average it takes longer than that)
- You're doing it solely to move to China and date Chinese girls.
If you find yourself in any of the above situations, then maybe you need to rethink whether or not you truly appreciate the Chinese language and culture.
