So my mom's family is Chinese but lived in Burma and speak Burmese, however, they've told me our family names (how I refer to relatives) is Chinese-- I've done some googling and can't find what language/dialect/form of any language or the proper spelling/characters are for them--
If anyone has any clues, please help, also please excuse my spelling -- I have no clue how to spell these words, these are how my family has told me to spell it OR Phonetic sounding out -- and these were taught to me when young so probably were americanized in pronunciation.
Mother's Mother (grandmother) - Ah-ma Mother's Father (Grandfather) - (sounds like) cone-cone (koun? kuon? gong?) Mother's Oldest Sister (Aunt) - Thwa Ee (yi?) Next Oldest Sister -- Yee Ee (Yi?) Next -- Saw/San Ee Mother's Older/Only Brother (Uncle) - Ku Ku/Coo Coo His Wife (Aunt)- Kim Kim Next (What my Mom would be) - See Ee Next - Gaw Ee Youngest -- Latt Ee Brother - Ti Ti/(Di Di?)
Other names: How my brother/cousins refer to me: Chee Chee/Xi Xi/Chi Chi/Che Che How my cousin (daughter of my Uncle) refer to aunts: Thwa Kaa/Kaw, Yi Kaw, San Kaw, See Kaw, Gaw Kaw, Latt Kaw. My aunts refer to my mom as: Mi Cho Refer to their sister in law as: Ahn/An So Refer to their second oldest sister as: Yi Gee/Chi/Xi Refer to my Grandfather's sister's husband as: Con Tea-o/Con Tyo Grandfather's Sister: Yi Kaw/Kaa Po
Other things-- My mom said her nickname/former name meant "happy" or "smile" and sounds like "pion pion/pyon pyon"
Is this all gibberish? Or a mix of languages? What's the correct spelling? Please help
