I was recently watching a video and the following phrase was used: 你為什麽要生氣啊？ (Ni weishenme yao shengqi a?) which I know from the subtitles, means Why are you angry? My question is, why is 要 needed in this sentence. I am still a beginner in Mandarin so perhaps the character has another meaning that I am unaware of but nevertheless I was curious...
