How do you stay motivated?

I guess my two questions would be how do you stay motivated, and what lead you to start learning Chinese?

I wanted to ask because I've been studying for about 4-5 months and there are things I like a lot about Mandaradin and then there are things that make it hard for me to keep going.

I don't want to be negative in this post so I don't want to get too deep into why I have a hard time staying motivated.

For me, I started learning Chinese because I like the look of Hanzi and the sound of Chinese, and with the growing tourism I was really hoping to be some kind of interpreter/guide for chinese tourists (not sure if this is realistic haha).

And the quick reasons why I'm struggling have to do with not having any locals in my area that speak Mandarin (plenty speak Cantonese) and while I like learning Hanzi, not being able to use it in daily life to jot down notes quickly (by hand, like a shopping list or a quick note) unless I type it using pinyin. Idk these are small things I'm sure, but still.

Thanks for your input!
