Best Chinese App For My Needs

I know this question is asked so much, for which I am sorry, but just wondered opinions for my specific needs.

My significant other is Chinese, so she can help me learn, but I would also like to teach myself and then practise what I learn with her.

I would like to read characters, but im not fussed about writing really. Just speaking and reading.

I used DuoLingo and I have some basic phrases down, but I found that the app has a few mistakes and such so i would like something better (if there is something better)

Please let me know.

Thanks.
