What's the best way to respond to someone that wants to ask you a question?

In English I'd normally say "what's up?" to prompt them to continue with their question, so wanted to learn what a good response would be.

Example: I was just asked "are you busy?", to which my response was thinking "bu tai mang," but then I also want to say something similar to "what's up?". "I'm not too busy, what's up?"

Also, I'm on computer, so sorry for pinyin and no accents.
