Examples of phono-semantic matching in Mandarin (words created to match both sound and meaning of the English (or foreign) word)

So these modern Chinese words were coined/created to not only match the meaning but also the sound of the English words:

Engine - 引擎 [yǐn qíng] - lead pull

Gene - 基因 [jī yīn] - fundamental factor

Hacker - 黑客 [hēi kè] - wicked/dark visitor

World Wide Web - 万维网 [wàn wéi wǎng] (matching "www")
