A few questions from a beginning Chinese learner

Hi friends, do you know some good anki decks a beginner can learn simplified Chinese from? The decks I've been using can really be inconsistent in difficulty and easiness and sometimes show like 10 different meanings of one character. I feel like I have completed HSK 1 and I'm doing HSK 2 now. Also, does writing the characters down in a notebook and learning actively work better than passively, like trying to recognize it? What has your experience been with this? And how long did you guys do over getting to HSK 5 or to get the feeling that you have accomplished something with all the work you have put in Chinese?

Those are a lot a questions in one post, sorry for any inconvenience. (Also, I didn't know what flair to use for this type of post)

Any help is appreciated!
