Softening expressions?

In English you can soften sentences/make them more polite by saying things like "Could you maybe bring it to me this afternoon?" (instead of bring it to me this afternoon), or "I wouldn't necessarily agree" (rather than the more brusque I don't agree). Are there any expressions in Mandarin off the top of your head that you could use to make your expressions less direct? I'm really worried about sounding too brash. 谢谢!
