I've been meaning to brush up my mandarin and I can, at the very least, hold a conversation. Since I've been taught more of reading and writing, speaking and forming sentences on the fly is something that I can't seem to hold down.
What interested me though was these language exchange apps like Tandem and Bilingua that allow you to speak to locals and their language. In turn, you are sometimes tasked to teach them a language you're comfortable with, like English.
It's an interesting concept, but to anyone who's tried it before, is it much better than just studying textbooks and videos online?
