Is using handwriting fonts a bad way to learn handwriting?

I have recently come upon a font used by hanzigrids, which is 方正硬笔楷书_GBK and I want to practice handwriting using this style. Is using this font, or any other handwriting type fonts bad when trying to work on handwriting? Should I focus on more "perfected" fonts and then try to make it look more natural? Most sheets given out in my Chinese classes were using the more exact fonts but my handwriting looks sharp and doesn't look as nice.
