How many times do Chinese children write out an individual character to rote memorize it?

I imagine that in primary school, Chinese children are given new characters to learn each day, and as homework they are probably required to rote memorize the characters by writing them out so many times, turning in these sheets to their teachers.

Does anyone have any idea on how many times each character gets written out by a Chinese child for this type of homework?
